Austin Aries is the current reigning X Division Champion and is one of the most talented wrestlers on the IMPACT roster today. Aries wrestled for TNA from 2005-2007 and was dubbed “Austin Starr” during some of his time with the company. Starr was suspended and eventually released from TNA for being said to have a bad attitude. Now, he’s back. He earned his spot on the roster this past summer with the Destination X qualifying matches and beat Jack Evans, Low Ki and Zema Ion to win a contract. Top 10 : Sting’s 10 Best Matches From his WCW Days
Sunday
Oct 9, 2011
What rollercoaster ride of a year it‘s been for the Stinger so far! He has captured TNA World Heavyweight Championship on two separate occasions, donned a new character (ripping off Heath Ledger’s Joker character from The Dark Knight), and has become obsessed with getting his old WCW rival, Hulk Hogan in the ring for one more match. At Bound for Glory we will see this match/ In fact, TNA is advertising this as a FIGHT. Sting is no stranger to the Hulkster as you will see on this list. What does TNA need to make this fight epic? They need The Stinger of old, the one that carried WCW. Let’s count down Top 10 Matches of Sting’s WCW Career!
10. Sting V.S. Bret Hart (WCW Mayhem ‘99)
Back in 1999, WCW had very few things going for them. One of them was Sting. Around this time, Sting was stripped of The WCW World Title because he assaulted a referee, thus making the title vacant. A 32 Man Tournament was announced to crown a New WCW World Champ. During the semis, Stingwould face Bret Hart. Mayhem was held in Canada giving Bret home field advantage. Bret won by DQ due to interference by Lex Luger but would not have that as the outcome. He had the ref restart the match (WCW was such a mess back then wrestlers could just do that) and ultimately beat Sting with the Sharpshooter. This match with Hart was one of the last good matches Sting would have with WCW.
