Revenge Is Best Served With No…Holds…Barred!
So here we are again, at square root one. We’re at the core of what makes everything in WWE tick like clockwork. Two men, one ring, a personal, bitter rivalry…and no holds barred; no punches held back, no mercy given, and no limits to what these men may do between the opening bell and the one that rings after the war. This is sports-entertainment at its best. There’s a violent, almost primal feverishness that drives people to flock around matches of this magnitude; almost akin to the days of old in the Roman Colosseum. And when it comes to physical, brutal gladiators, it hardly gets any better than Triple H and Brock Lesnar.
A lot of people didn’t buy into Lesnar vs Triple H at Summerslam last year, mainly because it was fleshed out too slowly. But with all the chaos Brock has caused Triple H’s life and family lately, their match at WrestleMania 29 could turn into one of the most memorable all-out hardcore showcases for years to come. This is Triple H’s element. The Assassin thrives on the use of weapons – especially the match-ending sledgehammer – and pure anarchy to seal the fate of his enemies.
But Brock Lesnar is no stranger to anarchy. A generation-defining superstar, Brock Lesnar is a machine hellbent on nothing but complete, methodical annihilation, and if Summerslam and last year’s Extreme Rules was any indication, his mastery of the moves in his MMA arsenal has only made him more vicious and more dangerous than ever before.
In all honesty, I’m not looking forward to this match to see if Triple H’s career ends or not. Let’s face the facts; Triple H’s career is untouchable as long as he’s married to the boss’ daughter. Even if he does “end his career”, it’s only a matter of time before someone “forces him out of retirement”. Either that or he’ll serve as some authoritative power on TV for a while. But then again, Triple H isn’t going to lose. With Shawn Michaels by his side and WrestleMania losses twice in a row (not to mention a clean defeat at the hands of Lesnar at Summerslam), the King Of Kings seems primed and ready to slay the beast and reclaim the throne as one of the most dominant forces in wrestling history.
As for Lesnar, he has a career with or without a win. He’ll be back to headline more big events. And who knows…maybe ‘the anomaly’ has gold on his mind somewhere down the road.
