So here we are at Vengeance, which is ironic and coincidental at the same time seeing as this PPV’s history is as chaotic as WWE’s current angles. Or was I looking for the word ‘terrible‘ instead? Not sure, but I can’t remember anything good happening at a Vengeance event other than Chris Jericho winning both the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships, becoming the first-ever Undisputed Champion in WWE history. But that’s not to say this newly-reborn Vengeance won’t be any good.
It’s funny though. WWE seem to be going all-out with their ‘gimmick’ PPVs, yet Vengeance stands as on old-school show. It’s just a plain PPV without a theme. I kinda’ like it. Maybe because I watched PPVs like that for nearly a decade or so. Vengeance is a crazy PPV, too. It first replaced Armageddon a decade ago, then became its own PPV when Armageddon came back, then turned into a gimmick PPV and was the first-ever Night Of Champions, before becoming Vengeance again when Night Of Champions became a solo-PPV, then disappeared, and now it’s back. Phew-wee! It’s almost like a symbol for WWE’s recent work-ethics. Fickle, indecisive, and pointless. ;)
Okay, I’m not going to be too harsh on the show. It could turn out being really good like the last two events. Triple H is back in action, which for me is always a good thing despite what some people are saying. I just don’t like the Triple H-CM Punk buddyship, but there’s no stopping it now it seems. Unless CM Punk turns heel. That’ll be a shocker. Also, I’m really looking forward to the match with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Pity it’s not for the Intercontinental Championship. And of course there’s John Cena vs Alberto Del Rio in a Last Man Standing Match. I’m sorry, but I think this could either be a semi-decent match or a snoozefest. I can’t see it doing that well, but maybe that’s just me. I have a few ideas as to what might happen in the match, and it involves Cena losing. Read about that in my upcoming Predictions piece.
Anyway, here’s the wallpaper for the returning Vengeance. A historic PPV, because it has Mark Henry on the poster. Never thought I’d see the day. Then again, we had Vladimir Kozlov on the poster for Elimination Chamber years ago, so this shouldn’t have taken me by surprise. Download and enjoy, all!
